Where little minds grow with confidence, curiosity, and independence every day.
History of the daycare center

It all began in 2007, when I developed a strong interest in working with young children. I started my professional journey by studying for the Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential. With the support of one of my instructors, I began looking for opportunities to work in early childhood education centers. Thanks to her guidance, I found a position at the Star of David Child Development Center, where I was able to put into practice the knowledge and skills I had gained through my studies.
I grew up in a large family with six sisters and two brothers, so being surrounded by children always felt natural and familiar to me. Throughout my experience working with children, I became increasingly aware of the challenges many families face when they do not have a safe and reliable place to leave their children while they are at work. It was through this experience that a dream began to take shape for my sister, Mayoli de Leon, and me: to create a nurturing childcare environment of our own.
In 2012, we decided to open our own home daycare. After nearly a year of hard work to meet all the necessary requirements, our dream finally became a reality in 2013 with the opening of Peaceful Play Bilingual CDX. We were blessed to earn the trust of our very first family, Mrs. Amy Harfeld, who believed in us and entrusted us with the care of her daughter. She later recommended our daycare to other families, helping us grow and become known within the community. Since then, we have remained committed to making every child at Peaceful Play feel at home while giving parents the confidence and peace of mind that their children are receiving attentive, loving, and high-quality care.
My academic and professional development has continued to grow over the years. In 2024, I enrolled at the University of the District of Columbia to pursue an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on children from birth to three years of age. I successfully earned my degree in 2026.
Currently, I am continuing my education by working toward certification in Montessori immersion childcare. My goal is to incorporate Montessori-inspired learning methods into our home daycare, providing children with an environment that encourages independence, curiosity, confidence, and meaningful learning from an early age.
